To Tan or Not to Tan for Your Boudoir Session

I get asked a lot of questions when it comes to prepping for a Boudoir Shoot, and one I want to talk about specifically is whether to tan or not to tan. I know it is winter time so this is a question I get asked more often this time of year. For me, the answer is simple and it may actually surprise you….

The answer is absolutely NOT!

I have amazing natural light in my studio. A fake tan can tend to make your skin look very orangey. And trust me, you do not want that!! Even the best spray tans or lotions can still cause wacky skin tones for the camera. I doubt you want to look like a cast member from Willy Wonka! haha! So, I always say- skip the fake tan!

I have also had issues in the past where clients have came in after getting a spray tan the day before and end up staining my furniture and lingerie. I spend a lot of money on my client wardrobe and the stains from a spray tan do not come out. :/

If you are absolutely worried about looking like a ghost in your images, I can always give you a nice natural glow by adding a little “warmth” to your images. I have actually had several clients who were worried about their pale skin tone. But paired with the right outfit, lighting, and makeup, the porcelain skin was STUNNING in their final images- which you can see below!!!!!

Trust me, your natural skin tone will photograph BEAUTIFULLY!!!
