Why Boudoir Photography Costs What It Does (An Honest Breakdown)

You see a $1,000–$2,000 investment and think… omg, that’s too much for photos.

I know that’s what you think, babe. Because I would have thought it too.

Before I was a photographer, I worked the line at a factory. I counted every dollar. I know exactly what that number feels like when it hits you — the little gasp, the closed tab, the “maybe someday.”

So instead of telling you it’s “worth it” and hoping you believe me, I’m going to do something most photographers would never do. I’m going to hand you the calculator. Let’s break down a $1,000 session together and see where that money actually goes.

Let’s Do the Math Together

Say you invest $1,000 with me. Here’s what starts coming out of that number before I’ve earned a single dollar:

Professional hair & makeup

A skilled artist’s time, premium products, lashes — the full 60–90 minute glam.

−$200–400

Taxes

Self-employed means no employer splitting the bill. Roughly a third of what’s left goes straight to Uncle Sam.

−30%

The studio itself

Rent, electricity, water, insurance — a luxury space has luxury bills, every single month, booked or not.

− every month

The client wardrobe

That closet you get to raid? Every piece was purchased, and every piece gets professionally cleaned after every wear. Lingerie is not cheap, babe. 😅

− ongoing

The sets you fell in love with

Every backdrop on my page — the furniture, the props, the builds, the constant refreshes — came out of sessions just like this one.

− ongoing

And that’s before editing software, professional lab printing, education to keep my skills sharp, and the hours you never see — the consultation before your session, the culling and soft edits during your break, the full professional retouching after.

When it all shakes out? What lands in my pocket from your “expensive photos” is… honestly, not much. It’s a fair wage for a full day of skilled work — the same kind of honest paycheck I used to earn on the factory floor. It was never going to make me rich. That’s not why I left Ford.

So Why Do It?

Because I’ve stood behind the camera for 300+ women, and I have watched every single one of them see herself at her reveal — hand over her mouth, eyes filling up — recognizing someone she forgot existed.

You’re not paying for photos. You’re paying for a professional artist team, a luxury studio, a closet full of options, years of posing expertise, and a day that is entirely, unapologetically about YOU. The prints are just the proof you get to keep.

And If the Number Still Feels Big

That’s what payment plans are for. Most of my clients use them — in-house options plus Affirm and Afterpay. Book your date, break your investment into pieces that fit your life, and have it all handled before you walk in. Your reveal day is pure celebration, zero checkout stress.

I counted every dollar once, too. Which is exactly why I’ll never take yours for granted — and why I built an experience worth every one of them.

Your Turn, Gorgeous

You’ll never regret celebrating
